Heuristic evaluation

Screen shots & Scenario for Heuristic evaluation of PDA screen designs for GI unit

Scenario

Dr Drake started his patient rounds with Mrs. Brown. He used his six digit pin number to access his first level of security on the PDA (screen 1). He then verified his identity using the fingerprint reader to gain access to the second level of security which gave him access to patient records (screen 2). He read over the last entry of notes for Mrs. Brown (screen 3), giving details of her current condition, before commencing his examination.

After examining Mrs. Brown, Dr. Drake updates the records using the voice input method. He first selects the add option to add notes, which moves him to a blank screen and then holds down the record button to verbally add notes (screen 4). The date and time are automatically appended to the notes.

Dr. Drake noticed a tick next to Mrs. Brown's notes indicating that her lab results were back and so selects the option on the PDA to link to that database to check these results. The results come back instantly through the PDA informing the doctor that Mrs. Brown has a minor intestinal infection. Dr. Drake checks Mrs. Brown's notes to see what drugs she is currently taking (screen 5) before selecting the drug formula option to access the drug formula (screen 6) and reference a suitable antibiotic for Mrs Brown.
